Why hire me?

Why I love PM and why I'll be a great PM?

Five-set Venn diagram example.jpeg

I value this Venn diagram than the traditional three-circle one

"Our job is to invent on behalf of our users"

Most of the candidates' reply that the most exciting part of being a product manager is you being able to collaborate with multiple teams, being the "Jack of all trades, master of none", being the CEO of the product, etc. But for me, the most exciting part of a product manager is him/her being the "Voice of the user". There exists no other job which cares for the user than a product manager (apart from the people in the medical field, of course). I believe that User Empathy is my strongest skill as a product manager.

I am that person who never misses a chance to interact and have meaningful conversations with the users. Believe me; it's much easier to interact with the users when you make them feel that you are one of them. Coming from a middle-class Indian family background, everything I learned, I learned it the hard way. I did my internships in small-scale companies. The major advantages I had with that was being able to interact with all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds using products in various kinds of contexts (all edge cases). I can easily jump into the shoes of various user personas and understand their pain points much more easily and effectively. You will never find a person with my level of passion for solving for the pain points of the common man.

Why me, someone with just 3 years of experience?

Not all are created equal

I first stumbled upon the term "Product Manager" in 2015, when Sundar Pichai became the CEO of Google.  After realizing that product management is something I want to do in future, for the past five years, including four years of my college, I have been gaining knowledge and learning skills relevant to Product management. I  have developed a quite unique set of skills required for Product Management.

What you see on the left is my Upraised Know Your Self score results, where I scored the same scores as that of people with 4+ years of experience. You can also see my skillsets in comparison to the average.

What Avenger am I in Product Management?

PM Superpowers Assemble!

What does Avengers have to do with product management? Well, I have the following MCU superpowers of the Avengers:

  • Spiderman - To be honest, I have a miniature version of OCD, which works for me like spidey-sense. I can detect problems even before it occurs.

  • Hawk-eye - I have Hawk-eye vision. I can even detect misplacements of 1 px. I also have a laser-focused vision for problem identification and problem-solving.

  • Captain America - I have Cap's great leadership and never giving up quality. Check my Leadership roles to see examples.

  • Bruce Banner / Hulk - I am a very data-oriented person who likes to break data into small pieces and then smash it to get more insights.

PS: I am still developing Iron Man's Tech superpower. I don't have it yet.

What are a few reasons for you to not hire me?

I have the following limitations and I won't be a suitable candidate if you have the below criteria:

  • I have only a permit to work in India and I will require VISA sponsorship. If you are looking for someone with both, I might not be a good candidate for you.

  • I don't have a computer science degree. Although I don't have a CS degree, I was a PM intern at a B2B company, part of the entire software development. I am far more technically skilled than an average candidate.

  • I have only a maximum of 33 months of product experience, which is also my total experience. Although I understand that you might be looking for someone with 3+ years of total experience, please schedule an interview with me and believe me, I will surprise you

If you don't have the above as strict criteria, give me a chance. Schedule an interview with me and I can guarantee you that you will be amazed and will like me after the interview.
